Beat the amazon, googleshopping, aliB, and ebay search engines, and find this part (helping really good, pro-aviation people at the same time)

It is a ceramic diffuser under a solid-metal flat grill of a 1963 SouthBend 6-burner, two-oven gas stove.

It is much like this one with all the holes & conical diffusers....except we need size 5.00" x 5.75" not 3.75" x 4.25".

Thanks!

Have you tried to call the manufacturer ?

Parts numbers for legacy equipment are often not on the website. An older guy in a grey labcoat flipping through old maintenance manuals and cross-walk parts lists is going to be the source of your part, not the googlefu.

Calling Middleby on Monday, but as the owner of much old stuff my experience is manufacturers typically are not interested in helping you with a piddly part off an item from 60 years ago.
Was hoping for that stockpiled parts box in someone's cellar.
