[NA] Excel Help Needed: Date Format Conversion

My yard software I use to run my place (Pinnacle Professional) is created/supported by a team based in the UK.

The reports that I can export into Excel have dates that come out as regular text using the UK format. An example for June 6, 2012 would show in the date column as "2012-06-06"

I want to convert that back to US format, and also use Excel's format and formula features on that cell/column.

Any ideas how to do that?

Right-click on the cell (or column or row).
Select Format Cells
Select Date
Click the drop-down Locale selector to choose English (United States).

You can also select a different date format in the Type box above the Locale selector.
