is it unsafe to use a csb in which the diamond-shaped knockout has come loose?
still fit & seems to hold tight, but...
And I'd just toss it, but I see a lot of them.

No. Get a new blade. If all you have is clamping force holding that thing centered and it hits something hard and moves out of center, it's now out of balance and also changing the set saw depth ... um, quite rapidly. How are you going to center it?

Or better yet, get a nice Skil saw with a worm drive and then you'll need that diamond shaped hole for the arbor.
