I have always been intrigued by the banjo. 5-string banjo to be exact. I was thinking about learning how to play and was wondering if anyone on the baord is a picker and would have any advice?

Q. What's the difference between a banjo picker and a large pepperoni pizza?
A. A large pepperoni pizza can feed a family.

Q. What do you call a banjo picker in a suit?
A. Defendant.

Just some fun to have with the local pickers!

I can play some banjo----go get yourself one and noodle around with it. Get a chord book to figure out some basics. Then if you need to, find an instructor for a couple of lessons.
It's pretty easy to get pretty good at the banjo. Getting really good at it is a whole other matter.
Have fun.

Several miles from my house lives a delightful man whose wife's Cadillac has the license plate, 5-STRING. Jimmy Cox builds magnificent banjos; more than a few famous pickers play Jimmy Cox instruments costing in the thousands of dollars. I think Jimmy may have ceased making the entire instrument, having been doing it for 40+ years, but I think he still produces parts for the banjos.

Google Jimmy Cox banjos? and you'll get a bunch of hits.

:dunno: What is the best sound you can hear?
A banjo landing on a accordian at the bottom of a dumpster.
