Somehow the plane flipped on its back and there was a fireball but the not young pilot only had minor scratches and walked away

Judging by the fact that there are ZERO smoke or burn marks on the aircraft, I'm going out on a limb and suggesting the 'fireball' witnesses reported was a very large dust cloud when it went into the bushes.
If the cabin was intact and he was wearing his seat belt/harness, I can see walking away from an accident like that without needing medical attention.
How long it takes depends on how alert one is after the crash sequence, how quickly they can unbuckle and whether or not the door was compromised.
