[N/A] Somebody forgot their tie-downs

As my marine cargo teacher would say 'the Chief Mate's a$$ is grass and the old man is going to play lawn mower!'

Just set the brakes don't worry about chain tie downs. What could go wrong ?

At first they looked like they were sliding but the wheels on the truck were definitely rolling with each shift of the deck. Wonder what happened there.

Low bidder?? :rofl::rofl:
I loved the comments, one guys asked why the camera guy wasn't doing anything?? Yeah, I'd risk my life to save a wrecked car from getting more wrecked! :mad2:

Doesn't really seem like that big a deal. Just read about a ship that lost 500 shipping containers.

We put ours in containers and secure the containers to our vessel.
I have not seen them out on the deck like that before.

That surprised me as well. Very rare to see that many cars secured on deck completely exposed. Only time I've seen that is on dhows in the AG or government contracted vehicle moves for military members (Uncle Sam is cheap when it comes to overseas household goods shipments.

Putting them in containers seems like a lot of work and wasted loading space unless we are talking about very expensive/rare cars. RO/RO is typically the preferred method.

Wet don't have ro ro ships done of our partners are kia, honda, hyundai. We ship their vehicles from the lower 48 to anchorage. All in containers. 2 to a box I believe.

Ships. This is us:

Okay, story time. :D

When we moved from San Diego to Long Beach ship yards we convinced the Captain to allow us to carry our motorcycles on the ship for the 125 mile trip. We had to sign all kinds of paperwork, drain the gas and oil, let the air out of the tires and tie it down. It would have been a hell of a lot easier to leave the damn motor bikes in SD and thumb a ride back to base to get them. :mad2:

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Don't think so .
Why do you ask?
It looked like one of the Matson ships but after asking that I did some searching and remembered that Sea Land had a couple of ships like that and Horizon is what is left of S/L. I sailed as a cadet on Sea Land Voyager back in the 90s.

Our history has been interesting to say the least. Things have started to get a lot better.

Biggest Curse / Blessing is the jones act. All of our vessels have to be American Made but American Made ships are about 10X the price of foreign vessels.

Who thinks the helmsman was turning abeam the waves just for fun? :)
