Well, sometimes twice a year. I'm asking for Holiday greeting cards, LOTS of them. Not for me, but for my 91 year old friend. Many of you may be familiar with him, his son Chris(actor/comedian), or his granddaughter Abby(Saturday Night Live). First, click on this Link:
https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search...iott+comedian&SpellState=&fr2=sp-qrw-corr-top

I first met Bob(and Ray) in a recording studio in Boston. Years later, Bob was my 20+ year customer at my camera store here in Maine. If YOU aren't familiar with him(Bob Newhart Show with Suzanne Pleshette), your parents definitely knew the comedy team of "Bob and Ray."

Again this year I'd love to know he will have received a flood of Holiday greeting cards. Don't mention my name; he'll KNOW who put you up to it. One year I sent him a birthday card with 67 signatures of my associates on it. He wrote to me that, "there were enough signatures on it to put me on the next ballot." Several told me that he sent hand-written replies.

So, just do it: Bob Elliott, 206 West Cundy's Point Road, Harpswell, ME 04079. And thank you; he's a funny, gem of a man.

Bob -- yeah, I think I'm in!

Bob and Ray were just slightly before my time, but I've seen then enough to know who he is. And he played his son's dad on his son's TV show, that one I do remember.

I remember your requests in the past, too! Good on you!

I remember seeing them on Saturday Night Live. They, plus Laraine Newman,
Gilda Radner, and Jane Curtin were doing a version of Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy", it's a classic bit.

Thanks to ALL who'll also say "Done." I hope there shall be many.
The photo is an image of his holiday card a couple years ago. It was
highlighting one of his paintings that he probably did from his back deck.
He did a whole series of paintings featuring Brunswick and Bath, Maine(decades ago).

Done, I told him to write if he gets work.

FlyingRon: Fabulous; your comment is precisely what he once wrote to me from when he was still living in NYC and after we had become used to my not being "in the store" during his summers here "and able to continue our talks about the old radio days."
One really needs to meet him to comprehend how spontaneous are his philosophies and expressions. I'm trying to get Howie Carr - nationally syndicated talk show host(WMEX Boston) involved in this but am trying to get his email address.

I didn't send him a $5 bill like my grandma used to do for me.

Do you think the first thing he does when he opens those cards is look for cash or checks?

Matthew: I haven't seen Bob for several years but we maintain some contact. His residence is in a section beyond a sign which states that, "Residents, Only, Beyond this Point." I'm working on a photo book about Cundy's Harbor - slow process - and when I go anywhere for photo shoots I prefer to knock on doors to ask permission "to cross your property for photo purposes." I rarely get refused but in this area I was told by Mr. Watson(see photo) to "Just do it. If anyone questions your presence, tell them I gave you permission." Everybody down there knows the Watsons.
Answering your question, Bob would get a hoot out of basic human nature with no expectation for anything but, perhaps, total strangers' recognition of his being.
Photo: If you Google Watson's General Store - Cundy's Harbor, Maine you'll find its history to be unique for a small community. Forget the Watson's Store photo. When I went to select, it's 34.6 MB, set for publication with the book. Instead, there are several at or below its lobster buying wharf(somewhat smaller files).

I will write Bob Elliott. Thanks, Harley.

One comment, not really a complaint. Photo file sizes over 5 megs take forever to load. I know small file sizes lose a lot of detail but for a forum post, more detail is lost anyway.

I am sure you have a way to reduce the file size but if not i recommend a dandy freeware program called "pixresizer" available everywhere google is....

Marry Christmas Harley!

Skip: I'm well-aware of my file size controversies. The few of my thousands of images which I post are usually "pick & grab" on the fly and in the middle of taking a break from some data processing of which I'm in the middle.
On another front, I sold a Bailey Island large photo to a lady who said she is a cousin of Diane Winchell. Prior information that Block Island 41 Indra is no longer in Diane's ownership appears to be not factual. "There she is, out on the mooring," I was told. Attached here is part of my project. (Imagine that: 580 kb; note the Image #) Merry Christmas to you, too.

I meant it as a joke, I hope it was taken that way. There's just something funny about the idea of Bob getting those cards and looking for a $5 check in each one.

Also done.

I remember seeing Bob & Ray on Letterman in the 80's, around the time Chris was doing his "guy under the stairs" gag. When I found out they were related, I remember thinking Bob is funnier than Chris. Ha ha. I didn't know about Abby. I'll have to see if she is funnier than both of them...

You know, there's been a 2 dollar bill sitting on my desk for a while now. I was half-tempted to try your joke and put it in the card!

Awww, dammit.

Sorry I missed the card gag...

RIP, funny man.
