Trying to help a friend recover her grandmothers jewellery -

LONG story short; Her cousin ended up with grandmothers rings etc. Just convicted for 2nd time on same stupid fraud scheme, will be doing time. Epic dumbA**....

She has the case #and basic location - but she is in the Northeast, would LIKE to go there for the specific auction and try to buy the stuff from the seized property auction.

Can anyone describe how it may be possible to find the auction from this specific case? Totally new to any of this -

First I’d ask, why would it be auctioned at all and not held as personal property held until the dumb*** is released?

Also was the person wearing it when arrested? Or was it just sitting at home? Many apartments will lock the door and auction the contents privately to pay themselves the back owed rent that usually shows up somewhere in that process of being put away.

    Thanks

House, (owned, not rented..) cars & contents seized as fruit / proceeds of the fraud I believe.

The cousin was given or self-liberated the jewellery herself from grandma, or something like that. My friend just wants the old rings etc to stay in the family if possible.

I don't know, but the first thing that came to mind is call the Court that tried the case. Next the DA's office or Attorney General or whoever prosecuted it. You'll probably find somebody who can find out for you.
