N?? 4VP down? Heard over guard this morning

What's in a name anyways?
I was east-southeast of Memphis and could barely hear the distressed. A United pilot was relaying to them and I could hear him clearly. Anyone have info if they made it out OK? I heard he was down, and relays were checking if 911 had been notified.
 
What time? You can check your ADSB track and possible find the other.
 
I’ve reed elsewhere that N444VP was flying formation with a friend in a Lancair who lost power and crashed into the trees, and that 4VP circled overhead to coordinate SAR.

That could be it. Someone on frequency said "it's pretty tough to watch your friend go down and not be able to do anything about it."

I93 airport code fits for another thing I heard, too.

N444VP track doesn't show circling, but it did land at I93 about the time the calls were going on. It left again a few hours later.
