Someone discovered this glider sitting abandoned at a desert strip desert strip about 16 miles southwest of Estrella Sailport:

Speculation is that it is an early mid-60's homebuilt...

A couple more pictures at:

anyone on this board who might have a clue has probably already read about it on RAS

Yea, but I thought there were some interesting pictures.

But then, I like going to junk yards and places like that.

Oh yea, me too! Was just recently going over aerial photos of abandoned strips in that area with a pal whos thinking of moving his cropduster operation there. We both get all historically excited talking about old military bases and such. Never know where a salvageable P38 will turn up:D

Someday you'll probably find the proverbial "airplane in a barn" but it will turn out that it will be in your barn and you will just have forgotten that you put it there.

MM to Burt Compton in a few years:D
MM "Burt you know I found a Fly Baby in the shed this morning when I was looking for my bike"
Burt " Is it your old Fly Baby?"
MM " Don't know, she wouldnt answer me when I talked to her."

A little sandpaper, some paint, few hours work in your spare time, maybe toss a couple of dollars toward it. Heck, before you know it you'd have a great glider. Unless of course, it was a really crappy glider to start with, which would explain why it was abandoned in the first place.

Makes you wonder what it's story is.

Here's the story....

"It's either me, or that ******ned glider of yours."

He made the wrong choice, apparently.:D

Either that or he made the right choice, and the remains have just been removed by animals over the years.
