Since 1998 the entire US G.A. industry has been building between about 2,100 and 2,800 aircraft per year. But once, within the last fifty years, three thousand units of one make and model were built in one year. What was the airplane, and what was the year?

3,067 Cessna 150's, model year 1966
Yes, the 150F. First model with swept vertical tail and electric flaps; the cabin doors, side windows, main gear tires and baggage area were all larger than before; and there was a $500 base price reduction to $6,995. Quality, effective advertising helped, too. I took much of my basic training in a 150F when it was new, and I owned one a few years ago.

One source says Cessna built an even 3,000 units in the US; the other 67 were likely F150F's built by Reims in France.
