The weather briefer told me the fog should be lifted by the time I flew across the state. My trip was to be from 7S9 Lenhardts to S49 Vale. The first paart out of the willamette Valley was good. Just a little after going past Mnt. Hood I was over a solid fog layer. It lasted almost to John day or about125 miles. I had been talking to Seattle flight watch and they had told me that John Day was VFR. I Fueled the aircraft and made a couple of phoone calls on the cell phone. I found out that Vale was still Fogged in and that a small dirt strip that I had been into was in the bright sun. So I landed at the Clover Creek Ranch. I stayed the night and they invited me for Thanksgiving dinner. Now these people were not total strangers. I have flown them looking for cattle, and I sometimes fly the Sunday paper into them. I had to leave my plane there and catcha ride to town. I arrived on Wed. and went back and got the plane on Sat. I Flew back to 7S9 on Sun. and that is another story.
