Hey everyone! Im new to the forums and I guess this is the best place to post my funny moments about my check ride!

To start things off my examiner was a 70+ year old ex military pilot that flew the p-3. Which there happens to be a few of at my home field. So during the 3 hour oral we spent about an hour on material and the other 2 hours was him talking about his p-3 days and other topics.

Then we get in the air. We go through the normal cx procedures and a few maneuvers. Then we get to turns around a point. Which through training has always been at a normal distance away, rarely going past a 30 degree bank. This was not good enough for him! Half way through my first 360 he takes the controls and gets about 2/3rds closer to the point and gets established... At a constant 60 degree bank! :yikes: This blew my mind and was a ton of fun! I have never crossed steep turns and turns around a point before until now! And of course after one 360 he gives me the controls. I was having trouble keeping the pressure on the stick maintaining altitude 1,000ft above the ground at a 60 degree bank while maintaining 100 kts! The point I chose for this maneuver was a small pond(no bigger than a gas station), and from my point of view it seemed as though we were on a rail just on the perimeter of the pond!

Well anyways that's my rant on my private check ride! What do you guys think? And whats your private check ride story?

I'm still waitin' to write my story too, but I hope I'm able to do it before the snow sets in... Congrats!

the rest of the story is that I remembered the fuel pump the second time and passed April 2012. Called my friends to let them know and one of them said "You passed the PPL in snow?" then I said "It wasn't snowing a 1/2 hour ago" I mean really April it doesn't snow alot in Ohio. :)

Now working on my IR and I abandoned the Taildragger endorsement for awhile.

Congrats . Sounds like you enjoyed your ride, flying is supposed to be fun.
