So I finally got an airplane for christmas! It's a beautiful red and white Piper Super Cub. The manufacturer says I can even teach myself to fly, how neat is that! Thankfully I have previous flight time with another cub owner, Jesse. It's a wonderful airplane that has gracefull flight and stall characteristics we wish were in all airplanes. Parts and maintenance are also readily available. All in all, its the perfect airplane to fit my lifestyle and adventurous personality.

Once I get a little more time in my logbook, there might be a dogfight kit in its future. :D

Nice! $100 hamburger coming right up.

Did it come with the approved repair kit????

Keep Jess away from it lest it become packing peanuts:D

I was gonna say the same thing about Tony. It looks a lot like my (former) Skyhawk that I watched fly once before it met its demise in an unfortunate CFIT accident on the overrun of 19 at AMW. :frown2:

Hope you better than my friend that got one for his birthday. Everytime he "flys" it he has to go to the store for parts. From his discription not sure I would really call it flying more like uncontrolable crashing. But his stories are always entertaining.

It is pretty easy to fly. I can easily fly it without hurting a thing. I did manage to snap the wings off mine once but that was mostly because I was intentionally trying to over-load the wings to see what would happen.

I had a nice RC 172 when I was in 5th grade. A bit advanced for me at the time although I never got to prove what skills I possessed since it had its own spin and CFIT by someone else before I got a chance. If you're going to get your kid an RC plane, make sure its slow and durable...for anyone who might try flying it. hehe

I wonder if that tree on Diana's farm has ever released the sky hog.

"Mostly"????

:D Actually, Tom went out into the woods a few weeks ago and got it. It was in good shape. He charged it up again and let me fly it. Since I hadn't ever flown it before, I didn't know what the heck I was doing and after it flew for a few seconds, I accidentally crashed it (spun it in ) and broke a wing. Oops.

Ah--I was curious if it ever came out of that tree. For those that don't know I managed to lose Diana's RC airplane. The winds were too strong and the airplane got down-wind of me. I pointed it in the wind but it basically flew backwards out of sight.

I was able to locate it in the top of a tree some distance from the flying sight.
