So on Thursday, I took my first flight towards my private pilot license. What a RUSH!!! I have flown RC airplanes for years, and having a knowledge of airplanes and how they function, made everything a lot easier. When I did my first turns, it really seemed like they were rather basic. I think a lot of it is because the process of using the rudder and ailerons together, is something I have to do in RC flight.

I took up a 1980 Piper Archer II, here are a few photos of the plane.

I tried to get Sam to ham it up for the camera, and as you can tell....he really tried to outdo me. :D

All in all, I was up for .8 hours, I took off mostly by myself, turned, flew, and he landed the plane. Sam spent a great deal of time with me showing me how to check over the plane, then explained thoroughly the process for getting my license.

The funny part, is I FORGOT to give the FBO the keys to the airplane back, and I lived almost 45 minutes away. So I drove back, and decided to snap some photos in the hanger....here are some of those photos!!

I want to give a loud THANK YOU to everyone who PM'd me and recommended I use Sam as a CFI. Couldn't have met a nicer individual.

Oh, and this means I am official now right?

Congrats! You have taken the first step on a path that you will never regret!

A big congrats... You do realize you are hooked for life..

Welcome to our disease..;):)

Jump on in, Brandon. You'll have a lot of fun, burn off a lot of stress and (for me, perhaps the best part) meet folks who will be friends for life.

Suggestion: at least two lessons per week, be sure you prepare for each and review what you learned after.

And, of course, keep us informed of your progress!
