Did they ever finish the runway lengthening? FF still says 3480.
And maybe with the improvement they got JetA??

As I recall, it took well over 6 months for the changes @EdFred submitted (as the airport manager for 6Y9) to be incorporated into the A/FD. And didn't they *just* do the construction? I'm not sure there's even been a new cycle since they finished, so I wouldn't expect the data to be up to date just yet.Did they ever finish the runway lengthening? FF still says 3480.

ThanksI’m going to try to head down there Thursday evening. I’ll let you know then, but a couple weeks ago there were yellow Xs out there.
I want to say it was like 2 years. As I recall, it took well over 6 months for the changes @EdFred submitted (as the airport manager for 6Y9) to be incorporated into the A/FD. Thanks
FF says “Poor” asphalt, does that mean bumpy; potholes; loose chunks?
Where is this? What’s the airport code?
RAS - Mustang Beach Airport at Port Aransas, TX
Thanks. I thought it sounded familiar. Back around 1990-1991 I flew with my professor at A&M to view my study area (Carancahua Bay) and we landed on a strip on a barrier island along Matagorda Bay to watch dolphins along the ship channel entry.
He had a 1953 Cessna 180. He would often take his students on aerial viewing of areas of geologic interest. Unfortunately he perished in 1997 on an annual class trip to meet up with his students on a west Texas field trip.
I remember that trip when I was there in the early 1990s. Students drove 2 University vans all day and got to what seemed (?) like an abandoned airfield and set up tents before dark. Norm would arrive late night in his plane. I wanna say it was near Marfa TX? We also spent a night at an airport trailer park community. Gosh I wish I could recall details.
Thanks. I suspect the new owners will know the state of RAS.I thought he sold that years ago.
Edit: Looks like he sold in 2020.
Thanks for trying.Update: Tonight’s forecast is too risky for me to leave the plane out overnight (our community hangar closes at 8p) so I won’t get a chance to get an update tonight.
Thanks for trying.
I told them Corpus for this trip.
got all excited, only 13mi away....but requires ferry (or drive around)We used ingleside (tfp) a couple years ago. Or was great. Manager reserved am Enterprise car for us and picked is up on the ramp. No fees either iirc. Drive to port a was very easy.
The ferry is state run and free. There's like four of them and they carry 40ish cars each. Only negative is there can get to be a line at certain times, but we basically drove right on.got all excited, only 13mi away....but requires ferry (or drive around)

And if you happen to go on the Raymond Stotzer, I can tell you who he is. I used to work for him. About four levels down the org chart. The ferry is state run and free.
