i just wanted to pass on that there is now a native Word app available for the iPad. If you couple that with a Onedrive app, it's a great way to create, save and edit documents on the go, and it's functional even with the touch keyboard. I've been using it a lot.

You won't be doing a lot of fancy formatting with it, but it will preserve it and you can use styles. If you just install Word it's free, but I think you can get the whole Office 365 suite on a paid basis if you want it.

I haven't installed Excel. I might try it but I don't really need it on my iPad.

Yeah Microsoft got the iOS Office suite right. Use it often and pleased with the apps.

Office for iOS has been available for a while now. Basic edit functionality with a free Microsoft account; more advanced edit functionality (including track changes, etc.) with an Office365 subscription.

In addition to OneDrive, also supports DropBox. And Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro.
