I want to purchase a gift card that gives the recipient the ability to buy some downloads for their portable music players. One has a Dell MP3 player and the other has a Lexar "jumpdrive" wma/mp3 player. The Dell player seems to support Napster to go and other services that use wma files, but none of them list the Lexar. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase songs to play on the Lexar jumpdrive player?

With Napster to go, you can download the songs on a compatible MP3 player, but you cannot burn them as MP3 format to share with friends or burn to a CD. However, Napster also alows you to download per song, i believe its .99 cents. with that option,, the user can download the song to mp3 format and either upload them to the MP3 player, or burn them to a cd. So, to answer your question, that MP3 player in question will work just fine with most, if not all services, as long as they are buying by the song.

Lance, take a look at http://buymusic.com You could give a Buy.com Gift certificate that works there as well as for other merchandise:

http://www.allofmp3.com is also legal, just not so much in the US as much as Russia.

Oops! Forgot to mention. Since the music is "legal" it's DRM laden and only works with Windows Media Player and "Plays for Sure" (Microsoft) compatible players.

Soo you have to choose to buy music for iPod and iTunes ONLY or Windows ONLY.

Welcome to 1984.

But, read on....
