Currently have a Class III with a sleep apnea SI. Everything is good and current. The SI letter specifically says it’s a Class III SI.

I’m probably going to move to Basic Med this summer or fall (the SI annual renewal is due in the fall). I normally renew my Class III and SI in my AME office by bringing in my status reports.

It’s likely I will get my commercial this year. If I want to use the commercial privileges, I’ll need a Class II medical.

How can I get a new Class II SI without a long deferral? If I keep meeting the renewal requirements can my AME issue without waiting for OKC to send a new SI?

Matthew, that's a yawner. The STds for CL 1, CL 2, and Cl 3 for SA are identical. I'd be issuing and send the agnecy a note, "needs revision to his authorization letter". In short, No delay. ZERO.

Excellent.

I will just keep up with the SI requirements even if I do go to Basic Med for a while.
