My mom came up with the idea that it would be fun to watch movies by the fire pit this summer. I know we watched movies out on the flightline at Gaston's last year. How was that done? Did someone bring a movie projector? If so...do you know where I can find one that doesn't cost a fortune? I am thinking about going 1/2 in with my brother on one...if it's not too pricey.

Thanks.

When you say 'movie projector' do you really mean a away to project DVD's onto a screen or are you really referring to the old film type projectors?

To do DVDs it is relatively simple these days. You play the movie from the DVD player built into you laptop and use an LCD projector.

Brook, we use a DLP projector, getting the content (DVDs and other video files) from the computer. You can buy these for anywhere from the $400.00 range on up, depending upon the specs.

Some libraries and schools will loan them too.
What about a projector screen?

The neighbors were out the other night, watching Monty Python movies, in their camp chairs in the driveway, projected onto the garage door. I thought that was pretty cool.

echoes of "ee's nawt deaad!" through the streets!

Might be good for Gaston's....although I would put my first vote with any Airplane sequel.

Some of the projectors have dvd players built in. All a matter of what you want to spend and what you want to get out of it. No reason getting a projector that will do 1080 if you're just watching standard resolution DVDs.

This is an area where it would be extremely beneficial to research thoroughly before committing to a purchase. Look up information regarding lumens, lamp life, lamp replacement costs, etc. Also, a lot of projectors have speakers that are absolute trash, so keep that in mind so that your audio experience is as nice as your visual.
