Any recommendations? I'm looking for an acutal flying course, not a book or video series.

Where have you gone and what was your experience?

Where are you located?

There are two types of courses....one for back country, as identified above and McCalls in Idaho, and the other for high altitude paved airports. Both Colorado Pilots and New Mexco Pilots Associations offer the latter.

Determine where you're going to be doing most of your flying and find experienced mountain instructors for those areas. There are some basics that are the same regardless, such as leaning for density altitude, canyon flying, etc. But each area has its own peculiarities due to weather and geography.
