Another frustrating situation.
The opportunity: Build a GA plane that is super reliable and efficient, and can burn jetA.
- It would have a small and light gas turbine that charges the battery
- It would have an electric motor that drives the propeller
- The battery needs to be small, only to sustain short bursts of high power needs for take offs and climbs, and short amount of cruise flight to get to an airport in case the turbine fails.
The frustrating part: I have seen many cool technologies like this one in the last 30 years, none of which have materialized.
Do we need a person like Elon to make this happen?
