Bad apples can be found in any barrel. It is a good thing that inexpensive technology is available to root them out.

But now, being just plain mean is often seen as being "tough".
Tough on your opponents, tough on people who don't look like you, tough on people who don't agree with your views, be they political, religious or whatever else you can think of.

yea, but anymore if you do that and you child goes to school saying he/she got a spanking last night, you'll end up having people knocking at your door from child services.

It's a shame all these reports of child abuse coming out in the media lately since the PSU story broke. There are so many reports of them on the news it's discusting.
 
"Asked to resign"? "Unpaid leave until the end of the school year"? "eight hours of anti-bullying training"? :rolleyes2:

They should both be court-ordered to only work again at some job where they rely on tips to make a decent wage. That might put a dent in that 'tude, and they will certainly receive their fair share of verbal abuse. :D

I also have to tip my hat to this dad- he knows he has to play it cool, or he'll get in trouble, which ultimately will harm his daughter. That's rough.
It would take all my strength to not go and put a hurtin' on both of them, preferably by knocking their heads together a few times.

Yes and no... a good coach has to temper the "abuse" with encouragement and support. If a kid, special needs or no, can't hit or throw or whatever correctly, teaching is required, not just "you're doing it wrong, stupid!".

Your kids are absolutely adorable and clear evidence of what good parenting can produce.

Seriously? When did spanking become illegal?

I've never struck a child, not even spanking, but I didn't realize that was off the table as parental correction.
 
Like so many thing, it depends. How much was the spanking? How old is the child? Is it a repeated pattern? Sometimes sense is applied sometimes not.

My wife is always telling me that our 10 year old son and 13 year old daughter are always running roughshod all over her. They don't do it in front of me, and they certainly don't sass me like she says they do her. She'll fuss at them verball. I raise an eye brow and if that doesn't do the trick (it almost always does) they'll be over my knee. It only happens a couple of times a year, but my 13 year old daughter got her last spanking just two nights ago when she said she was going across the street to tell her friend something quick before bed time, and 45 minutes later I found them walking down our street, about a block from our house.

I don't spank to make it hurt, but more to get their attention.
