Are the old wood wing M20 worth a restoration? are there many left? oddity ? fun aircraft? good cross country aircraft for 2?

To only have been made one year, I see a few of them out there. I'd be a little nervous about the wood, i think there's an AD or something on the wood stabilizer due to rotting and most if not all have been converted to metal, I looked at a couple, just didn't want to "go there". Can't really give you a reason why other than being scared of my own ignorance I suppose.

parts grow on trees, i think it would be a fun little plane to have.

My understanding is that the M20 with wood wings is a perfectly fine airplane if properly maintained. I doubt Al Mooney under-designed it, not his style.

These are off the the list, they are an all metal aircraft with a wooden spar.

I'm leaning toward a plans built Long EZ.

but you can buy one for less than you can build.
