All of the M20J's Ive seen personally and in pics show Cessna like push/pull knobs for the throttle, prop, and mixture. We're looking at an M20J that has a Piper like throttle quadrant for the three controls. Was this a factory option? Something that was offered only on certain years? Something aftermarket cobbled on?

It was stock setup from, I think, the '69F through the '77J.

Bill, Glad to hear you're looking at Mooneys too. I'd hoped I didn't scare you off. Here's a link that gives a good summary of the J evolution. www.mooneyevents.com/201hist.xls
The push pull controls come with the 78 and later models.

My partner originally wanted to go with a Cherokee Six, but potential overhaul costs have pushed him in a good direction, towards Mooney!
