I've been working on a Guillow's model mustang, and have it up to the point of painting it. I think I'm going to try and paint like the red tails of the Tuskegee Airmen... The hobby supplier I used to buy the dope from isn't in business, and the other I found on the web has two shades of red - "Light Red" and "Tennessee Red". Any idea which one would be better? I have plenty of Cub Yellow from my last airplane that should work for the yellow stripes. Any techniques for paining those little yellow/red stripes on the nose cowling?

For the nose stripes have you considered making a decal?

How do you make a decal?

Some of those pictures in the other link don't have that yellow/red, just solid red. There's the easy way out!:D

Well I mainly did it for other options besides the Red Tails :)

Just get some acrylic tape. Clear is good but if you could find some yellow tape you'd only have to paint the red stripes. Painting yellow over a red base prolly wouldn't work.

Cut tape to size, apply paint, let dry, apply gloss coat, while that is still tacky, apply tape to model.
