At what point do they completely run out of hardware capability and start working on writing code that's efficient? I mean you just know the software is going to become so convoluted and mangled that 1THz is going to be like trying to run a 4.77MHz machine today.

Eventually they're going to hit the absolute limit on minimal gate physical spacing and the speed of light. At that point, they're just going to have to do something else because there's simply no other choice while residing in this Universe.

I guess at that point, we'll stop outsourcing programming jobs and actually get good software again (and I'll actually be able to make a good living off my degree!) :)
