I just hit 500 PIC hours and to make it sweeter, it was on a vacation flight with my family, which is one of my most enjoyable reasons to fly. Do you get any insurance breaks for milestone hours like 500 or 1000?

Nope. I might have got a very very very slight reduction when I hit 500 hours in make and model.
 
My Mooney insurance just now came up for renewal at about 33% higher than the previous year after hitting a round number of hours so I doubt that this buys you much in insurance savings. Problem for me is that I passed seventy, but I have a clean record. Not sure what to make of it.
