I've got a '66 C-150 with a rubber handle on the yokes and a push-to-talk button in the yokes. A coiled cable loops from each rubber handle into a hole in the dash board(instrument panel). The cable has deteriorated and is shorting out putting the NAV in the trans. mode most of the time.
I've been told the cable has to be MIL-SPEC. The cable is a 2-conductor and is coiled. I have NOT found any MIL-SPEC source. I have found a electronics store that sells it.
Can I use it? I know the headhones I got on Ebay from Korea are not MIL-SPEC so why does this wire have to be????

You have to be careful with your MIL-SPECS. Very easy to confuse MIL-PRF-32327 with MIL-P-21960B.
