Pre-takeoff checklist
For the last few months I have received notices that FreeNAS would soon merge into TrueNAS. https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/freenas-and-truenas-merge-09-03-2020/ I have used FreeNAS for several years now to store backups of all my computers, to run an FTP server, and as a PLEX server. The software is still free and it is supposed to offer more reliability. I admit that I postponed the move fearing that I would have to do the configuration setup all over or maybe lose my files. Well, I did it yesterday and it was easy and went smoothly. I saved a copy of the server configuration and selected TrueNAS as the new "TRAIN". Download and conversion took about an hour and you have to reboot the server.
