mid-life crisis advice

I recall an investment advisor claiming that one of these was one of the better investments you can make:

TV in one room, fridge in another, can be had for less than a high-end car. A great way for a guy to live, so long as there aren't a lot of tornadoes...

I wouldn"t invest my money with that advisor.

Cheap to buy but depreciates rapidly. Not a worthwhile investment unless you own 30 of them and you have a slumlord manager that runs them as rentals.

Maybe, but not so many maintenance costs, either. My house hasn't really appreciated that much and I've sunk a fortune into maintaining it and the grounds.
