Just found a nifty way to put abbreviated METAR info on the Firefox Bookmark Toolbar... using the Microsummary feature of Firefox 2.x.

If you're a little bit geeky, you can figure out how to get this to work. A few notes:

If you're a little bit geeky, you can figure out how to get this to work. A few notes:
- When the author instructs to "bookmark as normal," he means to use Ctrl-D to bring up the bookmark window to bookmark the NOAA METAR page.
- It doesn't handle gusting winds properly, so I made an inelegant edit to the XML file to display the wind string the way it always is in a raw METAR:
- The file will be in your Firefox Data\profile\microsummary-generators folder, after installation.
- Open in editor and scroll down to the "Do some munging on the base wind string" section.
- Change the select statement to: select="$metarWind"
