One just never knows which new acquaintance turns out to be a pilot. I've been using the area's best car wash(brush-less) in the area for almost nine years. When it was just getting open for business I was in the line of vehicles. A lady came to my driver's door and said, "Hi, do you still have the store kitties?" That caught me by surprise until I realized that she had been one of my regular customers at my camera store and was a cat fancier.

I rarely saw her after a few occasions. Often, there's been a male attendant dressed in work scrubs; and we generally have some conversation. Yesterday the three lines of vehicles(two for brush-less / one for manual) required a considerable wait for the next bay. Said male attendant made the rounds, apologizing for the delays. I asked him "if the lady still owns the business."
""Yes, it's my wife's business; I just come around to keep an eye on things.""

I was wearing my Twitchell's Airport hat which has a sea plane in its logo. The guy said, "Do you fly the sea plane?" ""No; C-172 ASEL.""
"Hey, that's good; that's what I took my Flight Test in." ""Flying it now?""
"No; I'm a FedEx pilot. I just came off-duty and came to check out the wife's business. She's a real estate agent these days, so when I'm off-duty I hang around here. I'll tell her I saw you." :o) One just never knows - - - - - -

Cool story. I have a new friend (dad of my daughter's school mate) who flies for FedEx, or did until he lost his medical a year ago to diabetes. His comment on GA was "good way to get yourself killed." Former Air Force guy. Seems like a very nice guy, though.

The fellow told me yesterday he got his PP-ASEL in Birmingham. I surmise he may have been armed services at the time, though I'm not aware if there's a base in that area.
