Not the expert, but it strikes me this is potentially issuable. Best to contact a senior HIMS AME and consult on it.
Two very good ones that participate here are Drs. Chien and Fowler.
In the meantime, do NOT do an exam with a regular AME, as that can damage your other future flying prospects.
