Masada crash

The details are still sketchy, but apparently, the plane banked too steeply and stalled at low altitude.

The plane was flying at MTOW (or maybe above...) and that was probably a major factor.

The pilot was very lucky, only a few dozen feet made the difference between what happened and a certain death crashing on the steep cliffs...

I am planning to fly there in 10 days - the region is desertic with beautiful sights...

Scott, looks from his identifier Alon lives in Migiddo. I stayed there for a few weeks years ago. beautful area about 15-20 miles south east of Haifa. Lots of archological sites there if I recall correctly. Now if you could bum a flight with him while you are there I will officially be jealous. Luck Dog. I can't wait to go back.

I did a landing at Masada Airport in a 172 during Barry Schiff's Pilots Tour of the Middle East II in 1995. 1200 feet BELOW sea level.

I don't think I've ever been so hot. [temperature, not airspeed]

Would love to go back someday.

Jon
