I did a quick Google search the other day, and found out that he had developed an online relationship with someone who misrepresented themselves in some way or another. That's as far as I read.
 
Actually, its a sea change, really the first time something like this could happen. Remember the movie SWF --single white female, that too could not have happened without a fundamental change in what is socially possible.

It actually is an important story because it represents the great divide between reality and the virtual universe. Many people have slipped into the virtual universe and it is as real to them as the other universe to us.

But the difference is that THEY are screwed up.
And THEY are just a sampling of what is in store for society.

It has gotten to the point that I am glad I am old and that I no longer have the need to hope things start to return to what I always perceived as normal. That will probably never happen. The best I now hope for is that thing don't go to hell before I die.

My biggest sadness is for those that are younger than me and will have to endure a lamentable future. But the future is in their hands now and it will be what ever they make of it. I wish them luck.

Hmm, guess it was the 'she was he thing'. Is it just me, am I still missing something, but why is even that newsworthy. The news has descended to a new low; to the level of an Inquirer-type rag. ;)

Indeed it has. "Cable News" is quite the oxymoron. There is no news on cable and very little on TV for that matter.

We no longer watch TV. Don't miss it a bit.
 
The biggest part of the story, besides him being an overrated linebacker from Notre Dame, is the news media was sucked into this story.:yes: His imaginary/online girlfriend "died" the same day that his grandmother actually died. This GF had been in a car accident and while recovering the doctors found that she had leukemia :nonod: No reporter ever questioned what hospital she was in, why there wasn't a funeral notice, why he didn't send flowers or visit her in the hospital, etc.
And it shifts a lot of attention away from Lance Armstrong's appearance on Oprah! :rofl:

Yeah, I gotta say Lance is a bigger a-hole by a magnitude of thousands over this kid, that was either foolish or stupid, Lance is a serial liar, cheat and manipulator! :nono: On the up side he is (was) an inspiring cancer survivor.
 
I'm really dissapointed in all of you.....you guys missed the standard pilot question response to a news item such as this:

"Is she hot?"
 
No one ever claimed football players were smart, but you know what the amount of time spent discussing this makes me wonder how smart the rest of us are.
