AC 90-108 is what you're looking for:
http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Advisory_Circular/90-108.pdf
Specifically, paragraphs 7 and 8.
NOTAMs will include a similar statement. For example, at KACY (Atlantic City, NJ), VOR/DME RWY 22:
http://skyvector.com/files/tpp/1504/pdf/00669VD22.PDF
Current NOTAM:
!FDC 5/3128 ACY IAP ATLANTIC CITY INTL, ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. VOR/DME RWY 22, AMDT 6C... PROCEDURE NA EXCEPT FOR AIRCRAFT EQUIPPED WITH SUITABLE RNAV SYSTEM WITH GPS. SIE VOR OUT OF SERVICE. 1504281222-1505261222EST
The SIE VOR is out of service. Since the missed approach holding is on one of the SIE radials, you need GPS to be able to hold.
An example of what R&W is talking about is at KSBA (Santa Barbara, CA), ILS OR LOC RWY 7:
http://skyvector.com/files/tpp/1504/pdf/00378IL7.PDF
!FDC 5/2948 (KSBA A0356/15) SBA IAP SANTA BARBARA MUNI, SANTA BARBARA, CA. ILS OR LOC RWY 7, AMDT 5... MISSED APPROACH: CLIMB TO 700, THEN CLIMBING RIGHT TURN TO 4000 VIA HEADING 160 AND FIM VORTAC R-250 TO GOLET INT/FIM 49.06 DME AND HOLD E, RT, 250.00 INBOUND. DME REQUIRED EXCEPT FOR AIRCRAFT EQUIPPED WITH SUITABLE RNAV SYSTEM WITH GPS. RZS VORTAC OUT OF SERVICE. 1504271746-1505041746EST
In this case the holding fix is the same, you're just using a different NAVAID for the holding course.
