[FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]This Saturday, June 4th EAA Chapter 690 will host very special guest, STS-133 Command Pilot, Colonel Eric Boe. STS-133 was the 133rd space shuttle flight and was launched on February 24 of this year and was [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]the 39th and final mission for Space Shuttle Discovery. During the almost 13 day flight, the Discovery crew delivered the Permanent Multipurpose Module (PMM) and the fourth Express Logistics Carrier (ELC) to the International Space Station. The mission's two space walks assisted in outfitting the truss of the station and completed a variety of other tasks designed to upgrade the station's systems. The mission was accomplished in 202 Earth orbits, traveling 5.3 million miles. [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]

Eric's program will focus on the mission of STS-133 and the space program with a special focus on the young people in the audience. Time for Q&A and for those youngsters to meet Eric will be made available.[/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]

Colonel Boe was born in Miami, Florida but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, attending [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Evansville Elementary School[/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]. He graduated from Henderson High School in Chamblee, Georgia, in 1983 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Astronautical Engineering in 1987 while attending the United States Air Force Academy. In 1997, Eric earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Along the way he spent a year in test pilot school at Edwards, Mojave, CA[/FONT]. [FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]He and his wife Kristen have two children.
[/FONT] [FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Boe is quick to recognize one of his teachers from Fernbank Science Center, Dr. Debi Huffman, who was instrumental in helping him along the way. Debi, who has kept in touch with him through his career, will be introducing Colonel Boe. She is also President of the EAA Chapter 690. [/FONT][FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Lawrenceville Mayor Judy Johnson will be presenting Colonel Boe with a special presentation during his visit.[/FONT]
[FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Due to additional commitments and a very tight schedule, the June 4th program will be from 9:30 to 10:30 and is open to all.
