:smilewinkgrin: Yep, that's the plan. I can connect the Zaon XRX to it for traffic display also.....adds to the comfort factor. The 396 on JA Air is $1600 so I think some bonus money is going to be spent!

5"w x 6"h x 1 3/4"d

That is the basic cross sections for the case. The plate and ball for the mounting is another 1 3/4"

Gary, do yourself a favor before buying an outdated Garmin device. Click on the link: www.aviationsafety.com

Then, click products, then overview and see what the FL190 offers over the 3/496. It simply blows it away! The FL190 also provides all of your IFR plates, Low altitude, sectionals,,,

Too bad I didn't know you were looking at Skyacres or I would have demo'd the FL190.
