Love Letter from the FAA re: LASIK and my 3rd Class Med.

A year ago I got LASIK vision correction.. the procedure went off without a hitch and corrected my vision to 20/15. Couldn't be happier.. or so I thought. My 3rd class medical came due and not being able to find a doctor that will certify pilots, I went back to my AME back in March.
Yesterday I received a letter from the FAA saying "we are unable to establish your eligibility to hold an airman medical certificate at this time." "Due to a history of Lasik, you must provide.. ..information for the Aerospace Medical Certification Division's review.."

Who else has come across this issue? How did your situation get resolved? Any recommendations?
