Good course, I am watching it now on VHS. I think it is the best of the lot though I tire of Dick Collins. Good info and I am glad it is in the course, I just find him a bit tiresome.

Do you also have Gleim's 8 Track Audio Course?

Nope, but I do have about 600 aviation - related VHS tapes, mostly flight training. Believe it or not, other than GPS and glass panel, not all that much has changed since VHS was king of the hill.

Actually, I do have some flight training materials on cassette tape. Is that close enough?

Oh wait! I can do even better than that 8-track. I have probably 8 - 10 vinyl LPs of training materials such as the below. I love that crap.

That is awesome.

One of these days I'll transfer them to mp3 and put them up on my YouTube channel. The problem is that my vinyl player has no output capabilities other than the built in speakers. I also have a vintage official Piper aircraft ground school on beta but no way to play it. I have a nice Toshiba setup for transferring VHS to DVD and I do that while I'm watching them.

I am thinking of getting the King video course to help me fill in the gaps since few CFII do any real ground based on my experiences thus far. Why is that?

IDK, you might want to make a separate post and ask some CFIs why that is so. One possibility that comes to mind is that students don't want to pay for ground training, especially in a Part 61 environment.

Regarding the King videos, I've have them all and I watched them. King videos are test prep. If you are looking for a good ground school go with the Sporty's or the Cessna Cleared for Takeoff. You can pick those up cheap on eBay. If you go with the Cessna product make sure it comes with the registration key. Also, you will need a computer running Windows XP or less for the Cessna product. At least the one that comes on multiple CDs.

There are a number of USB turntables available.

I have it on VHS but it's not for sale. I have more recent IR materials also on DVD and I'm doing an online course currently from American Flyers but, as I mention, I like the Sportys course best of all. To be honest, for an instrument rating, the VHS course is severely dated and I watch it mainly as background material. You can pick up a more current course on eBay if you don't want to pay full retail.

While a bit corny and cheesy, I do give mad props to the Kings videos. I've watched a few online and the only downer is price they are super expensive!
