Hopefully title says it all.

Do any of you have good communication platforms with your local pilot group? While we have a great group, our communication is a website and a monthly newsletter.

This weekend, I needed a cable to download data from my engine monitor and I was sure a local pilot probably had one I could borrow. Unfortunately, there's no way to check with the local group.

If you have a local forum/bbs (is that still a term?)/chat, what do you use? Is moderation a pain? Is it used?

Thanks!
Sam

farcebook ...

edit - let me clarify ... private group on farcebook ... we have one for our flying club. However, making it private presumes you already know your target audience.

If you want to limit access there are numerous BBS, including the one we're using now. Many people do not want to participate in FB for various reasons. Downside of running your own BBS is needing someone to manage it as well as someplace to host it. phpBB is one of the most popular. Check here for details
