It would be interesting to see what are the rental rates at different airports/areas, and how they have been affected by the rising gas prices.

At 58N, Palmyra PA:
C-150 is $56 (up $2 from last year) (there are 2 of them, both mid 70s)
C-172 is $79 (up $3 from last year) (2, mid 70s, one with G430 and engine upgrade)

my club rents 150's at 51/hr, one has a garmin 250XL nav/comm. both are "IFR" but i wouldnt want to do too much hard actual in them.
172 has wing leveler, LORAN, DME, flip flop narcos and is 61/hr.
not sure how much they've gone up due to gas prices, only been in club 4 months.

But you also pay monthly club membership fee, right?

well yes, the monthly dues are 12.50 i think. whatever works out to 150/yr
they are billed every 6 months, so we owe 75 in july and 75 in jan

Depending on where I rent from:

Late 70s-early 80s Skyhawks about $90 hr
Skyhawk SPs $106 to $116 hr
Skyhawk SPs w/G1000 $120 hr
Archers $100-$120 hr
Tigers about $106 hr

I've included fuel surcharges in the rates.

Not including fuel surcharges (which seem so wrong to me)...here's the prices last time I checked (about 7 months ago) at West Mesa Aviation in Albuquerque:

Cessna 172N model: $93/hour
Cessna 172R and SP: $119/hour
Cessna 182RG: $137/hour
2005 DA40 (G1000): 145/hour
2000 DA40: $133/hour
DA20: $102/hour

1978 152 $88/TACH hour
172SP goes for $128/TACH hour.
182T (G-1000) $168/TACH hour
A 310R is $280/Hobbes hour.
R22 whirlybird $210/Hobbes hour.

I think the local helicopter flight school here at N99 (Philly suburbs) gets about $200/hr for their R22, although maybe it's more now due to the cost of fuel...

At KCKV the C150 rents for $65/hr and the C172G rents for $85/hr both wet

At DXR:

C152 = $93.50/hr (wet)
C172M/C172N = $104.00/hr (wet)
C172R/C172SP = $130.00/hr (wet)
PA28 = $104.00/hr (wet)
PA31 = $245/hr (wet)

At HPN:

C172R/C172S = $132.50/hr (wet)
C172SP w/ G1000 = $150.00/hr (wet)
C182T w/ G1000 = $196.00/hr (wet)

At KHYA (Air Cape Cod) the rates are:
C-172
$80.00/hr
VFR
PA-28-151
$80.00/hr
VFR

And my favorite is a hidden Massachusetts treasure,

A 1947 Piper Cub
PA-11: $30 /hour (wet)

Got to love that!

Still at Air Cape Cod or are you going to keep it a secret? It might be worth a drive to check it out.

John that is actually through Old Colony Flying Club, and the plane is kept at KPYM.
All you need is your tail wheel endorsement and 30 bucks - How sweet is that!
I can get you the info if you need it.

what are the rental rates

Our club rates, per tach hour:

172P, traditional IFR, $85
Archer III, two 430's, S-Tec 55x, $100
182T, King nav II, $125

Local airports are getting about $85/hobbs for 172's in scrappy condition.

:eek:

A 152? $88 for any kind of hour is way out of line.

EDIT: OK, apparently I was wrong:

:hairraise:

Still... That's just not right. :mad:

My club: ($120/mo)
$66/tach hr for Archers (1 with IFR GPS, 1 without)
$94/tach hr for 182 (G430 w/terrain, S-TEC 2-axis a/p)
Fuel surcharges add on $3/hr for Archers and $5/hr for 182 for every $0.30/gal above $2.95/gal. So, with current price of $3.84/gal we pay a total of $72/hr for the Archers and $104/hr for the 182.

Local FBO: (5% for $500 prepay, no min balance)
Hobbs hours, incl. fuel surcharge:
152: $62.50/hr
172N: $79.25/hr
Warrior: $79.25/hr
Archers: $90.50/hr
Arrow: $103/hr
Dakota: $112/hr
Seneca: $242.50/hr
Aztec: $272.50/hr (This one's on a squat switch, so it's flight time only.)

Others I've flown recently:
West Palm Beach, FL: 2005 C172 w/GPS, MFD, air conditioning: $130/hr
Tampa, FL: 2005 C182 w/G1000 $172/hr
Cadillac, MI: Super Cub w/skis $90/hr for dual
Portland, OR: PA-30 Twin Comanche $180/hobbs hr
Denver, CO: DA40 w/G1000 $140/hobbs hr ("club" req'd fee - $15 for one day, monthly fees unknown)

Kent, Bill - What airports are the rates for? Thanks.

KMSN for the club rates. "Local FBO" is Wisconsin Aviation, with locations at KMSN, KRYV, and KUNU.

For the rest...
West Palm Beach = Palm Beach Flight Training, KLNA
Tampa = North Tampa Flight Center, X39
Cadillac = Northwoods Aviation, KCAD
Portland = Eagle, KHIO
Denver = Journeys Aviation, KBJC

BTW, other rates at Eagle (KHIO): 172R $109, Warrior $90.50, Arrow $122, CFI $39.

tn98, sky ranch airport in alcoa tn, club fees are 40.00/mo. and 2 c-150's at 60/hr wet and a 172 at 80/hr. not sure about the model of the planes. thinking 70's models.

You know Mike Ragsdale? I also did some aerobatic training with John Burt there, nice little airport!

The club planes are at CHA, the local planes rent from CHA, 3M3, and 1A0.

...you're tellin' me!?! I'm the one that actually has to burn the cash/credit card from in my wallet. :-(

Prices are outrageous. I always joke with my dad how I could go out to the middle of the country in Podunk, KS and get my Private and Instrument for less than my private here in the New England area. (Whether it's true or not...you get the point, right?)

Probably true - I am sure instructor rates you are paying are quite high too? Down at 58N it is $27/hr (both private & instrument). I flew out of N07 (close to NYC) once and it was $55/hr.

Guess I'll get my tailwheel signoff. It's a lot cheaper than any warrior and bet it's a lot more fun!
Thanks.

At KCKN I pay 80/hr for a 1972 Skyhawk-L (wet) with Garmin 4?? something (a nice little one I am just learning to use), DME, etc. (Squished mosquitoes are free.)
