It's been really hectic at work lately. Too many projects, looming deadlines, and last minute changes make for long hours and working weekends. Not time to do anything and too tired even if I could find time - I'm sure all of you are familiar with the routine.

But I made sure I had most of Saturday free (paid for it on Sunday) and got to bed early Friday night. Saturday morning was a beautiful day for flying. I went to the airport early and, after a carefull preflight, taxied the very short distance to the grassy area with picnic tables under tall trees where my local EAA chapter was holding a Young Eagles fly-in.

I've helped out at our Young Eagles event before but this was my first time as a pilot flying the kids. It's easy to see how great it is for the kids but, until now, I never knew just how great is is for the pilots as well. What a wonderful way to rejuvenate!! <img>

For one day there's no politics, no grousing, or anything negative. Just lots of big bright smiles and airplane talk. And for a bonus, a photographer for the local paper showed up and took pics which were in Sunday's paper. I'd post a link but you need a paid registration to view them.

Good for you Gary! A couple of weeks ago I was having a conversation with a lady here at work and she was telling me about her 12 year old that wanted an airplane ride. I told her about Young Eagles and she then checked out a couple of websites that I told her about. She was able to get a YE flight scheduled for next month and she was very happy. :):)
