Leaking flare fittings

I have a refrigeration flare fitting that’s leaking, any hints how I can fix, the surfaces look pretty good, looks like some very minor corrosion on female end.

Normally I just put some sealant on a fitting, but my research says that’s a no-no, even though it’s mentioned by a few.

That looks like mechanical damage. Is that flare part of a hose fitting, or on the end of some tubing?
