Stearman Field Airport Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Jared Hobaugh during their time of grief. Our memories of him will last forever. Please join us at Stearman Field for the memoerial of Jared this Saturday the 26th at 3:00pm.
Wichita native Jared Hobaugh died in a plane crash two days ago. He was on his way home to fulfill an honorary role his late father was supposed to play.
The 31-year-old was known for his larger than life personality. Many may know him as a member in the local band, Shaft. He also loved to travel.
"Jared was a very adventurous guy. He had a ton of friends all over the world it seemed like," says his brother Jason.
His latest adventure was living in Alaska over the summer. He worked for an aviation company up there. In his free time he flew his J4 Cub. Flying was in his blood.
"I thought he was invincible at that point. That nothing would ever happen to him. But it did," says his sister Julie.
Last weekend, Jared bought a plane in Pennsylvania. Tuesday, he was flying it over Missouri on his way to Wichita. The plane crashed, killing Jason.
"We were really close all three of us. We'll just miss him so much," says Julie.
The three siblings lost their father years ago. Jared was actually flying to Wichita to walk his sister down the aisle when she gets married in October.
