Anyone from here like to redo their landing in Gallup today.??

My wife and I was at my moms house doing a little outside work and we watched a SE Cessna go over. My mom lives at the spot most people start turning base to final. Since the house is about 200 feet higher than the airport, most small planes pass over at about 500 AGL. There is a American flag on a pole in her front yard that makes a great wind sock.

About 45 minutes later as we were driving home, I noticed the same Cessna on the side of the runway, nose gear collapsed and the tail up in the air. I don't have any information as to what happened. It was a nice day here, light breeze, probably light turbulence and blue skies with some higher scattered cumulus clouds.

We did pass an ambulance, but it was on the road going to the hospital so I have no idea where it came from.

I am guessing/hoping the only injury was some major hurt pride.

After as windy as it’s been, these days of no air movement add their own challenge, after crazy headwinds almost all winter and spring I feel like I’m still at cruise speed rounding out on days like today.

Could be a mechanical break. More likely a hard landing by the pilot.

I'll look for your mom's place on my way to Osh this year. :)

I figure either Gallup or Grants-Milan for my fuel stop.
