Lake Powell video

Great video.
Hardly any boats. Don't people use Lake Powell anymore?
The water looks low, also. Too much going out to service Phoenix, I suspect.

From the mid-October CT Fly-in. This is flying up Lake Powell, to Escalante UT. So many places to fly, so little time:yes:

Nice. Love Lake Powell.

Dude appears to have decided he's ok with going in the drink with an engine out, I guess, though. Too low to do anything else. (Those rocks aren't exactly inviting...)

Not in mid-October, only the occasional rental houseboat full of employees from the concessioner cashing in their summer award, and a few bass boats. Some sea kayaks.

I loved October - nice weather but almost no people. I lived off the departure end of PGA RW33 for a while, and you can also see one of my former houses beginning at 1:41 in the video

Yup... even at higher altitude, for the most part, the lake would be the safest out. 'Nothing but rocks and gorges out there. CT has parachute option, plus we flew in groups of 4-7, so you won't be alone. Most have some flotation.

Nice. I get sort of used to flatland flying, being from Louisiana, so it's nice to get an idea of what GA flying offers in other places.

Actually, we saw quite a bit of activity later in the day and on the weekend. This was 7:30ish on a Thursday morning. A lot of boats were tied up in secret little coves at that hour.
