Ran down to Sikeston MO, KSIK this afternoon to try the infamous Lambert's Cafe. It was a fun trip and we ate way too many rolls. The shuttle van did indeed pick us up and drop us off at the airport. The airport itself is quite nice, too.

We didn't eat at all today, anticipating a late lunch. We got there around three and it wasn't busy at all. We all left feeling overstuffed. The rolls & apple butter were the highlight, but the fried chicken was also excellent. The kids had burgers which were mediocre, but they filled up on bread (super healthy, I know). Definitely worth a trip, but don't go too often unless you want to weigh 350lbs.

They do actually throw the rolls across the room, too. The young guy threw me one and didn't put quite enough power behind it, and it whacked the back of my wife's head  I was pretty proud of myself for still catching it.

Fantastic place to go! If we weren’t in lockdown I would have made a few trips this summer.

How would you compare their rolls to the Beef House rolls?
I think the Beef House wins but I have them multiple times a year vs. the Lamberts rolls which I've only had twice in 20 years...

Honestly I think these are better. They have a nice crust to them, and it helps that they are super hot & fresh. The apple butter is much better, too.

Do they still walk around and dump a pile of fried okra 'appetizer' on the table?

We stopped there coming back from a football game several years ago. When we got to the restaurant there were three tour buses in the parking lot and we thought we would be there forever waiting for a table, but the van dropped us off at the 'exit' door and took us in and right to a table. Very cool to show off some 'pilot perks' a bit in front of my brother-in-law.

Yep; I liked the okra, but I would've really liked some ranch or something with it. They also had "macaroni and tomatoes" and "black eyed peas", but wasn't brave enough to try those. The fried potatoes come around the same way, and those are REALLY good.

They took us in the exit even though they weren't busy, and the driver seated us.

Even on a busy day when the line at Lamberts is out the door, pilots get preferred treatment. Usually get brought in a separate door and get 1st available seat.
