I have a Global Entry interview in Phoenix in a few weeks and rather than do the 12 hour drive from Reno, I hope to fly. I would route myself down V105 all the way to JONHH. How will this work in practice with all the VFR training in the area? Any particular arrival procedures I should expect?

I plan to park at PHX for one or two nights at Cutter.

My best guess for a prop would be V105 to DRK then COYOT5. We switched to Swift FBO years ago and have been very happy.

Do you really want to work for the CBP?

Huh? This is for Global Entry for fast access through US immigration. When the world was normal, I travelled overseas a lot and it's nice to come back into the US without standing in a long line.

My GE/Sentri appt is at the same location, in March.

fourth five-year-renewal for us. Wouldn't be without it.

But I'll be coming from central Phoenix for my appt. A little closer, and no vectors will be required.

VFR traffic shouldn’t be an issue if you are going into PHX IFR. I’ve flown in many times from PRC. You’ll be well above the Deer Valley flight school riff-raff.

In piston twins I always filed DRK V257 PXR. At some point as you enter the Bravo, they’ll start vectoring your. I’ve never filed or been given an Arrival on that route.

I believe they are run by the CBP. See https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry Personally, I don’t want to anything to do with them. Actually told a friend to stop giving flights to a CBP employee in my plane.

My latest renewal is in their stack somewhere. This will be my second renewal, third 5-year term.

Sorry, yeah, my virtual-signaling radar was picking up major returns. But you know, I've been wrong before.

Still confused. This is like saying I'm not going to get a driver's license because I don't like the DMV.

Without my SENTRI membership (a kissing-cousin to Global Entry) having our Beachhouse in Mexico would be a no-go.

15 mins vs 3 hrs wait time in the automobile crossing in Tijuana makes all the difference in the world.

Sorry, I think I understand where I got confused now.

When you said interview, I thought you meant job interview. But I guess you meant an interview to get the Global Entry pass? So not working for them at all.

Correct. It is a renewal and they want an interview. I had to do one last time too. I think it may be because my travel history includes places like Iran, Somalia and other odd places.

I'd be curious to learn how that interview goes -- ours is next year, and we will have passports full of possibly unsavory stamps too.

...while I am not fond of CBP or TSA as organizations, if they paid my rate, I would have no problem working for them and taking their cash. My employment choices are not colored by my personal ideals.
